I Walk Alone

As I was hiking on Wednesday morning I heard these musical lines coming at me from a song that Collin put on my ipod.
I walk alone.
I walk alone.

I walk alone.
I walk a-

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me,
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating,
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me,
Till then I walk alone

This is from the Green Day song Boulevard Of Broken Dreams.

Just a note, Collin edited the bad word out.

Anyway, never have these lines hit me in the way they did that morning. There I was, having hiked with my good buddy for years, now hiking alone. It made me laugh. I have to admit, I'm already getting bored with my ipod stuff. I guess I'll put conference on again and maybe BYU devotionals. That should be good .

Hum Hum Hum...

Mwahaha! Another post by the notorious Emily!
Today I will be ranting on... EFY registration!
It's pretty much the downfall of all my dreams of going to Provo this year for EFY (currently squashed unceremoniously). My motives may be skewed, however, I still persist.
Madelyn, Megan, and I are going to Cedar City. Once again, I will get the completely random roommate and forget to keep in touch. And I'll probably play in the variety show and no one will ask me to dance before they see it.
But, after all the negatory news, EFY is still a highlight of my summer. In contrast, I could get an amazing roommate and be friends for life. And people (even guys) might actually take a liking to me before I get to the piano! However, what actually matters about that I'm even going to EFY (thanks, Mom) is that I remember why I'm even member of the church. I have never been as happy as when I am doing the right thing and spiritual experiences like EFY manufactures are a great reminder of that.
If only I could take everyone home with me...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I need to do my Pow that is due tommorow. It is about Pizza. MATH MATH MATH also. I made it in the tryouts for quarterback in my P.E. We dont know who is going to be quarterback for the teams but we will probably know by next week. Well better get started on that demeaning four-paragraph Treacherous full of doom POW.

Comments, Please?!

To everyone who has visited. We welcome your comments! Heck, we'd just like to know you gave it a read. We hope to post some video clips and pictures soon...when we have spare time to kill. Or just want to avoid doing what we're supposed to. Do I hear Dallin Oaks in my head saying something about good, better and best? Arrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhh! Best go and use my time wisely!

Play

I am in a play called, And a Child Shall Lead. I play Rachel Groenbeck, she in thirteen and from Prague. The play is about these kids in the concentration camp in Terezin, Czechloslovakia. They are basically trying to make sure that people know they were there. To do this they are writing a newspaper, but they have to make sure no guards see them with the paper, writing, or reading papers. Our play is next Thursday. Aaaaaaah! Then again I'm lucky I don't have a million lines to memorize like some people in the play. Such as Eva who has around 159 lines. I have about 39. This week we are having rehearsal after school everyday. I hope we do well!

Dream Dinner

Today we had a dinner from dream dinners. it was chicken casserole. Some people said the chicken tasted fake. Mom said she liked it and i kind of liked it. Anyway BYe

Finally Finals (a musical composition by Emily Brown)

(sung to the tune of "Suddenly Seymour")
Finally Finals
Are finally over
And everyone's happy
The semester is done
Finally Finals
Are like four leaf clovers
I must have been lucky-
Somehow, I had fun...

Well, as the story goes, finals are over at last and I have begun the semester with ONE HUNDRED PERCENT in every class! I just have to keep it there...and there's more to say but it's all unrelated.

Bye!

Super Bowl

I want the Pats to win the super bowl but mom says oh, i want the giants to win because then the patriots would be "We almost got a perfect season but we didnt" Welllllllllll, I totally disagree sort of, Eli manning is kinda cool. I also Want the patriots to win because then the'72 dolphins wouldn't brag because someone else had done what they had done. Ha!

Curses to EFY!

We didn't get in!! For the past 2 or 3 years they have used the lottery based system. It has never proved beneficial for us. I usually have to babysit the computer and wait for a spot to open up in a session that we want and that is how we have been able to get in for the past few years. I put in for four different sessions and were chosen for none of them. The site states that they place 90% of people who sign up. How lucky I feel to always be in that other 10%! Wheee! I'll try again tomorrow for a spot somewhere but who knows? Last year a spot opened up for Emily at the last minute and we never were able to get Collin in. There has got to be a better way.
For you Jane Austen fans out there be sure to tune in/or record PBS Masterpiece Theatre for the broadcast of all of her books made into movies! Yipee! We're so excited here but bummed out that we missed "Persuasion" and "Northanger Abbey" already. Check your local PBS station for listings.
Seminary is going well for the most part. My two home study students are falling behind in their work. Then they don't want to see me. It's hard to catch up when you fall behind. I wish they'd work something out and just come. It's much more fun that way.
My best ever hiking buddy and dear friend is moving to Utah next week so for the first time in quite a few years I won't have a regular hiking buddy. Boo Hoo. I'm trying not to think about it and sort of just pretending she's on vacation or something. We team taught seminary together for 2 1/2 years and were also visiting teaching companions. We know a lot about each other. Probably my best friend since high school that wasn't related to me. I'd better juice up the ipod so I have something to listen to. It's perfect hiking weather here too.

In the Beginning...

One fine afternoon, Dana Brown decided on a whim to begin the family blog. And thus, "The Brown Dirt" was born. Its purpose is to provide a medium to interact and share ideas with our extended family, friends, and our wonderful brother/son, Collin.
That's all...

This should be good...
